My daughter is fourteen today.
I remember when I could lay the entire length of her body along my forearm and stare into eyes the colour of a morning sky.
I looked into her eyes a few minutes ago over breakfast and got that strange sensation you get just before you fall asleep, when the bed tips and you get that vertigo feeling.
The same eyes, in the face of a beautiful young woman.
Happy Birthday Jennifer Eleanor.

You've nearly made us cry here
I should hope so too !!!
awwww...that is so sweet.
It is bittersweet...
The joy of watching them grow and blossom into young adults and the sadness that comes with knowing that those moments will one day only be memories.
It happens much too quickly. My child is 23 now and it seems 14 was just yesterday. Love them as much as you can now...
Happy Birthday, Jennifer!
Hi ana, I can't believe how fast the time goes.
Fourteen !
I think I need a Gin & Tonic.
eek 14. My daughter is 12 and I'm watching her bloom into a young woman with a bittersweet pride.
I'm so glad I have a daughter... and I can see you're the same.
Happy birthday to you all. Raising a good child to 14 safely is no mean feat.
It's the little moments of abject terror for their wellbeing that make it all worth while !
