Urban attraction

I was reading the Saturday Guardian magazine over the old toast and marmite earlier......always the same, never have time to read it at the weekend.......and I came across a piece about a guy in Manhattan who is selling time slots in a sleep booth on the 'sidewalk'.

The idea is you take a break from your frantic day and get a swift power-knap during your lunchtime, or whenever;

I was thinking, maybe if we slow country types need a bit of a lift.........a dose of high N R G city living if you will.....some entrepreneur could set up a booth with wide-screen and surround-sound, and we could be transported to any major world capital for 20 minutes at the push of a button.

Next thing you know, the price of hedge-veg has soared, farm gateway eggs will be flying off the trestle tables................this time next year, we could be.....

time slots and sleep booths?! geez...only in Manhattan. I bet he's going to make a ton of money. I'm all for the idea, personally, since walking down a Manhattan street during lunch hour is, in and of itself, a great feat and requires an enormous amount of energy and fortitude, especially to manuever one's way around so many fruits and nuts. And I like you're idea for slow country types, by the way.

Nice photo. For the geography impaired, may I ask where this is?

hello birthday girl !

Thanks as always for dropping by, by the sound of it I would be out of my depth in manhattan.

The photo is Amsterdam, looking North along Damrak towards Centraal Station, which is the big building at the end of the street.

Yes, New York city, or any city for that matter, is beyond my depth as well. Oakland, CA is a smaller city than Manhattan, but I don't like it much. I would rather live in the country and pretend I'm not scared of scorpions, wild cats and bears. I see you have a little cluster map and that you're getting more hits from around the world...very cool.

Ah...Amsterdam. It must be nice living in Europe, with relatively easy access to a lot of different countries and people. I am jealous. Every where here, no matter what state, is pretty much the same.

Cheers, my friend.

Yeah there are compensations to living over here.

From my house it takes 35 minutes to drive to Norwich airport, but the flight time to Amsterdam is only about 30 minutes !

However, it can take anywhere between 2.5 to 4 hours to drive to London.

Thinking about it, I don't suppose even 4 hours sounds like a long drive if you live in the U.S. !

yes...4 hours is nothing. the length of California is at least 20 hours, if not more.

sweet dreams to you.
